Very cute small hotel with friendly staff. It’s in a very quiet area and has two small but pretty gardens. I didn’t eat here but many guests did and the food looked good. My room (garden room) looked a bit tired in terms of decor annd furniture and the shower didn’t have great pressure but everything was extremely clean. Overall a very quiet safe and friendly place to stay and a million miles better than chains like premier inn etc.

We enjoyed our stay at Stuart House, the premises are in a quiet location, but still within easy reach of the town centre. Even better it was very close to great little pub the "Live and Let Live", which is well worth a visit.

I only stayed for one night and did not have any food there, but my room was comfortable and I slept well. I would go back. There is three parking and it was straightforward.

A lovely hotel close to centre with free parking

This is a small hotel and restaurant with free parking in a quiet residential area. It is a short walk through a pretty park to the bus station, high street shops and historic area. The restaurant/bar menu is varied and delicious. The staff are friendly and caring. The superior double room we stayed in was traditional style and clean, the bathroom was modern and the bed was spacious and comfortable. We stayed one night but would happily stay longer in the future.

Away for work

Away for work for 1-night. Good welcome, good room, TV okay as was wifi. Asked for decaf tea and that was provided. Stayed here before would come back again. Only downside is car park is small and there would not be enough spaces if each room had 1 vehicle.

The room was small but quit nice which overlooks the car park and back garden the room furniture was old but good quality the bathroom had recently been refreshed and was clean We felt the breakfast which was expensive and should have been included in the room price the dining area was tired and in need of re furbishment Great location a short walk across the a lovely well lit park took you to the city centre, rail and bus station, river, shopping area and museums A really nice place to visit

We didn't think much about the bed squeaking every time one of us rolled over and the mattress was a little soft for my bad back. Also we found three spiders in the bathroom. However the room was well appointed and comfortable in every other respect. The breakfast and dinner we had were good and enjoyed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

Friendly staff. Good sized room. The shower wasn’t very powerful but did the job. Easy to get to town in a walk and to other areas by car. Worth the visit.
