"As a solo traveller spending 5 nights at Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Bangkok I was very happy with my choice to stay here.
I had originally booked a standard corner King room (which cost a little bit extra as the corner room is more spacious, but it's not really worth it as the extra space is just a hallway). It wasn't really what I had expected, and the wonderful front-desk staff moved me to a lake view standard room instead, which was perfect. Technically it was a slight downgrade after paying extra for the corner room, and the staff made up for that by offering me a couple of complimentary drinks in the bar on the 27th floor.
The bar area is lovely, with a great view over the city and a beautiful rooftop pool, although there were often children splashing around there during the day which didn't make it the ideal spot to relax and read my book).
The hotel is in a perfect location at Sukhumvit with direct access to the MRT and BTS and just a short walk to Benjakitti park. There's plenty of great food options around with Terminal 21 across the road, and the new SW1 night market also close by. Inside is an oasis of calm from the busy and noisy streets outside, and the Japanese style and quality make the hotel feel very comfortable and welcoming.
All of the staff at the hotel were exception, polite, friendly, and would go out of their way to make sure that you are enjoying your stay. Overall, a good choice for a hotel in the Sukhumvit area."
