Great staff try to compensate for poor maintenance
I’ve read the other reviews since my stay: all the positive points, such as great staff and convenience to airport are true as are the negatives about poor maintenance such as there being no hot water for showers. The staff try their best to make up for the owners’ lack of funds (or care) to maintain the hotel rooms. The lobby and restaurant, however, are well maintained.
IF YOU MUST STAY HERE, MAKE SURE NEIGHBORING ROOMS ARE EMPTY OR VERY QUIET PEOPLE, AND YOU DONT NEED HOT SHOWER
It looks like the owners half built the hotel and now that it is making money, refuse to finish the work. So it is a 2 star hotel masquerading as a 3 star hotel. It is sad, because it could obviously be a nice hotel.
The staff are nice, and the air conditioning works great.
But:
No hot water in the shower
Neighboring room tv noise blasting through the uninsulated walls into my room all night - not nice when you have to get up at 4 am for an early morning flight.
Construction workers finishing cement all over the bathroom-the room was never cleaned up after the construction workers, so there is sealant gum marks all over the sink and floor, missing sink cabinet panels, missing bedside table.
In other words, the hotel is basically a money laundering operation for owners who don't care anything about the customer experience.

Decent hotel in Kathmandu
Overall for Kathmandu standards The Amadablam delivers. Main plus is the restaurant: it was clean, the food was good (except maybe the breakfast, that was disappointing and could do with more variety) and the staff was lovely and went out of their way to make sure we were happy.
On another note there was somehow a communication issue between Hotels.com and the property as the list of amenities includes a fitness center, which does exist but is actually independent from the hotel and charges a fee to use the facility. This is nowhere to be seen on the hotel description, not even on the small print section.
Overall it is a decent place to stay, but you probably can find better places in nicer areas for the same budget. It is a good location for a stopover after a flight as the airport is literally a few minutes away.
