It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. Great little property. Staff is really nice. I mean really nice. Pool was decent. Location is a little secluded and quiet, but you can get to town in less than 10 mins in car. Don't use tuk tuks. It's challenge for them to climb the hills. Not a new facility but its maintained pretty well.

Do not recommend this place at all. There was nobody at the reception. Gave us the wrong room. Then we asked for the room that we paid for. They charged exrtra for that. We didn't receive any bed sheets. The best part is I wanted to go the toilet at 4.00 am and found out no water in the toilet and I had to call the manager lady early in the morning but no answer. Terribel place. Avoid this place at all cost.

The views are worth the journey

The Tourmaline and its partner hotel the Topaz sit high above Kandy with beautiful views over the city. It is reached via a steep, winding road, but the views, and the hotel itself, are worth the journey. Reception was prompt, and all staff were friendly and attentive. The rooms were large and had everything we needed - comfortable bed, luxurious bathroom, strong wifi and good electrical outlets. The breakfast buffet was delicious.

Nice view,we came with a rental car -access a bit difficult because of very narrow streets. Hotel id on top of the Hill , you will need a driver/car go Kandy

Excellent comfortable and spacious Kandy Hotel

Room was spacious with great view. Wifi was not available in the pool area. Staff and service exceptional. Food was superb. Location good for the view not so good for getting around and need to rely on transport and not walking distance to anything so a bit isolated. Probably not quite 5 star although it was excellent.

Amazing hotel up in the mountains of Kandy

The Tourmaline was an amazing hotel to stay at. The staff was extremely polite and attentive and it made our stay very comfortable. They provided services we requested like day trips to Sigiriya and the rooms were clean. Very well done by hotel and they made us feel special during our whole stay. Only thing is it's up at the mountains so it's away from the city but they remedied it by providing free shuttle service to the city. Thank you Tourmaline for your hospitality.

A sublime two days

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. We loved the decor and atmosphere of the hotel. Felt relaxed from the moment we arrived and we met by smiles and a refreshing drink. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed all our meals there. I wish we had been able to stay longer.

Great place to stay

The hotel is located on the slope of a hill. So, need to keep that in mind when you go out for a walk. Also, access to public transport is limited. The ambience is great. Great welcome. Staff at the front desk were very helpful. The rooms were spacious,clean. It has a lovely view of Kandy. The bathroom has a glass door in common with the room. This can be curtained off with a cane curtain, that has spaces between the canes. A bit awkward if you have children of both genders staying in the same room. There is no lift in the hotel (it is only 3 floors tall) and that can pose a problem when you have someone who cannot climb stairs or there is no bellboy to help you with the luggage ( you need to check out at odd hours) Food is good. The people at the dining area were very helpful and nice Spa is great. Overall a great experience

Great Views and spacious rooms

Excellent hotel, except for the fact we didn’t know that they don’t serve alcohol... if we had known in advance we could have been better prepared and bought our own wine for dinner.
