It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. I cannot honestly give this property a good rating. 1. the name of the hotel is incorrect. I spent more than half an hour in the pouring rain, soaked to the skin, trying to find the hotel. No-one in the hotels around know it by the name i booked under. It is called the Sandriana Lake View actually. 2. the address of the hotel is incorrect. The address shown on your site is a private residence/club. 3. the distances to popular places are ficticious and inaccurate. 4. the rooms are not serviced, My room came with a bottle of water but no tea or coffee. I had to beg for some tea bags and the manager seemed reluctant. I expect a bottle of water and tea/coffee to be replenished daily, 5. Hotel is very very noisy, the constant scraping of chairs from upper floors and the breakfast area echoes throughout the hotel, in the rooms, in the corridors, Very very noisy especially morning and evening. 6. The property seems to be renovated but very poorly or cheaply, cables exposed, fixed items loose. Sorry but it was not enjoyable.
