"Stayed at the Black Dog Inn in Bolton for two nights. The room itself was comfortable enough for the price, so no major complaints there. However, the overall experience was disappointing. The first night was a write-off in terms of sleep. Staff gave a late booking to a couple who had been drinking in the pub, and they stayed up most of the night with the TV on at a very high volume. "A modern and comfortable room, but the poor breakfast service let down the overall enjoyment of the stay. The rooms are well designed and high quality, although there were issues with our lamp (flickering badly, couldn’t use it) and shower (blocked plug hole, not draining). Maintenance issues were reported to reception, but as it was the weekend, I was told there was nobody available to look into it until Monday. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the rest of the room. Breakfast was disappointing....

"Good experience all round. The breakfast selection is better than my previous stays. The only slight negative is that on the last day, I wanted to get my bill while the reception was quiet at breakfast time before the check out rush but the receptionist advised me that due to a new system, if I got the bill, the room would no longer be accessible."

"Room was very clean as was the bathroom. It had everything you needed and it was all clearly labelled. Kingsize bed was really comfy. Curtains were blackout so no light got through. Situated in a lovely quiet area so there was no noise throughout the night. Throughly enjoyed the room. Had no issues are complaints. "

"Friendly and professional staff. Wonderful evening meal (the Halloumi Flatbread was delicious). Good parking, spacious bedroom well appointed. The chilled complimentary fruit juice & water was much appreciated after a 400 mile journey! My only issue was that room 4 was right over the outside seating area and I can only imagine that during World Cup season this could prove to be a problem. As it was I did have the creaking stairs (access for all guests) and loud music blasting from the bar below...

"The common area was clean as was the linen. Staff was non existent did not realise was a self service accomodation. Parking was there but I did not need it. The room carpet could do with shampoo and the cupboard with dusting . The bathroom fixture though looked new could do with upgrade.. ."

"I honestly can't understand why this hotel is rated as well as it is showing online. When travelling I always stayed here previously but it has been a significant time since my last stay when it was a Premier Inn. The room on the lower floor had an odour of urine and felt damp. The bed mattress was worn with no support. Thankfully The bedding was clean. The room overall was oversized and felt damp. The shower had a small cockroach looking insect residing. And the door had no security latch...
