"The driveway construction workers showed up unannounced to resurface the parking area. It was loud. It would’ve been nice to have a little advanced notice."

"Great place at a fantastic price. Conveniently located within walking distance (or a very short drive) from all the attractions and dining of Alexandria Bay, but not directly there, which makes it quieter. There's an amazing distillery nearby, Dark Island. If you're into small batch, artisanal bourbons, don't miss it. The staff clean the rooms every day, which was unexpected but much appreciated. My one minor quibble is the size of the bathrooms/shower. They're tiny. Lots of things to do in the area, and if you have a passport, Canada is a short drive away, accessible by car via a bridge. I highly recommend this property. I should warn anyone planning a visit that the village of Alexandria Bay is seasonal. The whole place completely shuts down after Labor Day. Make sure you check online, so you don't go when pretty much everything is closed."

"What an amazing place to stay!!! Jim and Donna are fantastic hosts! We stayed in the Theodore Roosevelt room and loved the decor. The beds were very comfortable and the whole place was so clean and full of history. Breakfast was homemade and delicious! I love that they kept the school atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is in this area!!"

"Breakfast was Delicious on day one but no one in the dining room at 7 on day two. I had to leave and was disappointed. I returned just after ten and everything was put away. But a kind kitchen staff gave me a slice of quiche right out of the oven. It saved the day for me. Conveniently located just outside the city limits and very nice views of the River. Spacious room. Bathroom fixtures need replacing."

"I booked the least expensive room which turned out to have a view of the top of the overhang of the building. The room had a window with a curtain that smelled so bad I was afraid to open it for fear it would spread it’s funk throughout the room. The window which looked like I could have opened it was covered in filth and dead bugs. The bed was comfortable. The refrigerator and microwave worked well. Breakfast was a basic carb fest. If you like to eat cereal and bread you are in luck! The restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday, the 2 nights that I was there. To be fair the property is beautiful. It’s on the river with lots of places to sit and enjoy views of the river. All in all it was disappointing."
