"Hotel Lela is convenient and well maintained, but the staff were really the stars of our stay- we were welcomed warmly and each staff person we interacted with was pleasant and helpful. The double queen room is pretty spacious and even though we were facing Market St., the room was quiet and we slept like babies. I'll be staying at Hotel Lela when I'm in Wilmington going forward!"

"The beach and the view from our balcony were spectacular, our room layout in general worked well for the three of us, the staff were all pleasant to work with and the late check-out by an hour was much appreciated. We did have to ask for more supplies like towels and toilet paper, and we were pretty disappointed that the jets in the hot tub weren't working - I have arthritis and it would have been a nice way to end the day at the beach. Overall, we would love to come back to the Shell Island Resort again."

" I've been coming here for about five years. The pool has been closed "for maintenance" for at least three years. Very nice front desk staff. Our toilet had a broken chain and needed to be fixed during our stay. They did it promptly. Lots of deferred maintenance at this property. I took a shower and the water was lukewarm--never got close to a hot shower, yet there weren't that many people staying at the hotel. Rooms are a bit worn but were clean."

"The breakfast was ok, cereal or bagels, oranges. The yogurt machine was broke, assorted drinks. The room was bare bones , no decor or microwave but very clean and a nice big tv. The staff were polite and professional ."

"I reserved the historic city view option , and what I actually got was a view of the roof, the a/c units and maybe the view of the roof of ONE of the historic buildings. The staff was amazing, however for the price that we paid we should have gotten a discount since we didn’t get the view that we paid for. If you select a historic view option, make sure you are not in rooms 312, 310, or 308."
