"The food was terrible I got food poisoning. The restaurants are hard to get a reservation at so expect buffet food for most of the trip (which is terrible). You had to PAY for wifi which we weren’t aware of before we got there. Reviews said it was good night life and Dominican culture but there is NO nightlife in the resort. Not a spot for young people. Only old people and families with young teenagers. Would never come back. "

"The hotel is on a busy street. Half of the building is being renovated. There is some construction noise from around 8am. And there was noise from dogs barking during the night sometimes.The hotel location is close to the centro area, but nowhere close to a nice beach. The beach in Puerto Plata is an embarassment to the city and the country. Full of garbage.The staff were all very nice. the price per night is very reasonable. "

"Do NOT waste your money here! We booked here last minute when our Cuba trip was cancelled and it is not a 3.5-4 star as advertised. Half of our room amenities were missing and our phone did not work all week (despite asking 5 times to get someone to fix it and they said it would be fixed that day). They would take our dirty towels and not replace with clean ones or replace water, so everyday we had to walk to the lobby (up like 6 flights of stairs) to ask for them to be replaced. The bathroom ceiling constantly dripped on us and we always came back to a puddle in our bathroom. Warm water 1/2 the week, cold the other. The public bathrooms in and around the lobby were always flooded and disgusting because they didn’t flush. We’d have to walk back to our room if we needed to use the bathroom. We thought it might just have been our experience, but sure enough after talking to people, it was everyone’s experience. One lady didn’t have AC all week and asked everyday to be moved to another room without any luck. I could go on and on about this place. They did not seem to care about anyone’s concerns or want them coming back to this resort apparently. I feel like I need a vacation after a week spent there. You had to walk to the sister resorts for any good entertainment, beach and most à la carts. "

"The staff was awesome! From check in, to dinner in the restaurant, to check out, everyone was so nice and kind and helpful. Check in was seamless, and the staff came up to help us with the controls for the air conditioning. she also sent an email immediately when I left my passport at the desk during check in. We had a wonderful conversation, in English, with wait staff in the restaurant. I think they enjoyed practicing their English. And they went out of their way to prepare a vegetarian dish for us even though there was no vegetarian option on the printed menu. At check out, we asked for a cab to the cruise port, but the male staff member offered to take us there instead. He ended up having to spend 30 minutes driving us to various places to get through immigration and get on the boat. It would have been so stressful without him as our intermediary. All the staff we interacted with went above and beyond our expectations. I would stay here again if I was ever in Puerto Plata again! "

"1. My room was not cleaned during my stay and my bed was not made. 2. Breakfast is not served until 8am IF the workers arrive on time. If they don’t, you likely won’t eat until 9am, which causes serious issues if you have early morning excursions. 3. There is not coffee available in common spaces or hotel rooms as advertised on the booking site, which means you have no coffee until the breakfast opens. 4. We also never found the advertised jacuzzi. 5. The showers were not great and did not function properly."
