"Staff were friendly and helpful. Convenient car parking. Our room was a good size but very tired decor, dust/cobwebs hanging from ceiling, bathroom very old fashioned and in serious need of modernisation. The bedroom (Room 9) overlooked a noisy courtyard and there was music playing until at least 11pm. Breakfast was very good. The hotel also sent an unnecessarily high number of messages via Expedia in the run up to our stay which was more annoying than helpful, particularly as they didn’t...

"lovely pub owned by the Lowther Estate. Stayed 3 nights while attending a wedding at Askham hall 6 minutes drive away. Food was well above usual pub food, and sourced from the Estate. Recently refubished. Walls a little thin and you could hear voices from room next door. Also no lift and original worn stone stairs to bedrooms, so may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.
