"The setting is lovely and the walkable locality and village amenities. We must have booked the budget room though instead of the advertised "deluxe", first floor courtyard, old stables. Room was fairly grubby, area behind the door hadn't been cleaned forever, shower tiny, bedding and towels clean but quality poor and only 1 skinny little pillow each? Our problem though was we arrived at tail end of heatwave and asked for a fan or something but apparently any available had already been given...

"Stayed for 4 nights as a group of 8. We used the bar and ate there every night. Staff were super friendly and efficient. The food had a good selection and we all enjoyed every meal we had. Bedroom was cleaned daily and fresh towels issued."

"Beautiful property and the rooms were air conditioned! I did think we would be staying in a castle, but apparently the castle is closed and under renovations being prepared to become an actual hotel, and the monastery onsite was also fenced off, so you couldn’t access the inside of it. If you want to golf, this is the place! Also the food was mediocre and expensive, and our dinner took a total of 2 hours from the time someone took our order to the time someone cashed us out."

"Rooms, lodges and restaurants outstanding. Food was wonderful. Our server at the Barton Grill was brilliant! This is a 5 star property and overall lived up to that. We had an issue with vouchers that were purchased for us as a gift. One staff at the golf course was somewhat...aloft...ok, curt but rest of staff and hotel staff were great. I do feel were somewhat shorted on the vouchers and left a sour taste."

"The hotel is positioned about an 2 min drive from the main road, possibly an 10 minute walk. Arriving by car, there is a massive amount of parking available together with numerous disabled spots close to the main entrance. A very large and elegant foyer with an impressive chandelier and a warm welcome by staff at the reception desk was waiting. Check in was completed quickly & our room selection confirmed.
