"We really enjoyed our stay at Holly Lodge. Our room was lovely, and it was clean and comfortable. It was great having air con in the room. Breakfast was also great. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if we’re in the area."

"This posh B and B was everything we hoped for. From the complimentary drink on arrival to the luxurious room with comfy bed, selection or teas/coffee machine and homemade shortbread biscuits. It was an extremely hot weekend and the air conditioning in our room was so welcomed. We had an evening meal there and attention to details was excellent. Staff throughout our stay were very kind, helpful and attentive. We would thoroughly recommend a stay at Byfords and hope to return again. Forgot to mention the selection for breakfast was excellent too and plates were large and full for all cooked items on the menu. They beat us!!"
"When you stay at the Maids Hotel, the one thing that is fixed in your mind is “stairs” unless you can cope with stairs at every turn, this is not the hotel for you. This is because the hotel is a heritage building and it doesn’t lend itself to easy step free access. I had a single room on the 3rd floor to get to it from reception I had to go up a couple of steps and down a corridor to the lift up to 3rd floor, from there I had go up stairs, down stairs multiple times before reaching the room and even in the room I had to go down two stairs to get to the bathroom. The room itself was okay although careworn and cluttered with too much furniture ( 2 armchairs plus a bench seat under the desk) plus the safe was too small, you couldn’t fit an iPad in it. It needs a redesign to bring it up to current comfort standards and some night lights on the stairs down to the bathroom to avoid accidents at night. In contrast, the money seems to have been spent on the public areas which are well designed an a joy to sit in. The staff that interacted with me during my stay were professional, friendly and very helpful. I only used the restaurant for breakfast which was the usual buffet fare but with a Norfolk twist . It was well cooked and tasty. In conclusion it’s a hotel that is resting on its history, location an£ its well trained staff but it needs money spent on bringing its rooms up to 21st century standards of comfort within the constraints of its heritage building."
"Excellent value for money, spotless rooms, helpful staff, comfortable beds, rooms are spacious with well equipped kitchen, easy to park your car, would highly recommend, would go back again."
"We stayed just before the heatwave. Even so it was warm enough. Opening windows and wedging the door open brought a cooling breeze. Also, facing the beer garden, it didn’t have the morning sun, which also helps with staying cooler. Our room was called Clay and it’s one in which dogs are allowed.
Plenty of coffee and tea for the hospitality tray as well as bottles of water.
Breakfast was very good. Everyone was very friendly. Lovely building. Strongly recommend."
"Breakfast was of poor quality, lacked choice of fruit only grate fruit and prunes available and in short supply. While the full English breakfast had a good selection, the bacon and hash browns where poorly cocked."
"The hotel is in an excellent position, just off a main road, but on a quiet lane. 15 mins walk in to town. Rooms are modern with aircon, tea, coffee etc. What really makes the hotel excellent is the staff, from the cleaners, bar staff, receptionist, they were so genuinely helpful and friendly. We had a lovely stay, thank you."
"AC in first room didn’t work so we were moved day 2 for a smaller but nice room. Received a nice refund as well. Breakfast and Lobby lounge is as nice as a hotel I’ve been in. Wonderful common areas. Excellent breakfast. We stayed for 5 nights.
Our room overlooked the stadium and was fun to see daily. No games when I was there.
American here. No microwave or fridge in room."
