Location cannot be beat and the staff is very helpful. It is close to the old quarter and the lake but far enough so you can’t hear all the city noise. Note on the weekend there are live performances until 10:30ish so don’t expect to sleep early:

Staff was courteous and cordial, and the complementary breakfast was great. I would say that their airport shuttle service can be improved, but outside of that, I have no real complaints. It’s perfectly situated in Old Quarter and many things are within walking distance. Additionally, the rooms are comfortable and the view was nice. Would highly recommend!

Great stay at the May De Ville Lakeside. I will say that this being a 5 star hotel is a bit of a stretch but it is very nice and the people are 5 star. The rooms were clean with great linens and towels, comfy bed and adequate plugs for charging. We had dinner at the rooftop bar. We didn’t expect much as it was “bar food” but still it was very mediocre and the service was slow - unfortunate as it wasn’t busy. That aside we were there for the view and it did not disappoint. The hotel is in a great location if you like to be in the heart of activity - right at the night market on the weekend, but lots of shopping all the time, small eateries and great places to grab a beer. Short walk to the lake. We were only there for our last night in Hanoi but enjoyed it and would recommend.

Great hotel in the heart of Hanoi. Room was clean and cleaning service was great. But, the condition and size of the room aren't the best for a 5 star hotel. In saying that, the breakfast was amazing, especially Richard (the manager). He was very friendly, helpful and gave an exceptional service.
