"It was really hamming up its Scottishness. Fake suits of armour, shields on the wall, animal skulls everywhere. Just wasn’t classy. The food was ok. They had tried with the vegan option - gnocchi with fried mushrooms - but could have done with some veg and a sauce. They’d run out of Pinot Grigio Blush. However the only real complaint was the price over £300 for a night, and it really wasn’t worth that. The bathroom was much lower quality than I’d expect for that price. Chipped laminate bath...

"A charming hotel. Rooms were large & well maintained. Staff were great- nothing was a bother. Included breakfast was hearty & tasty. Certainly a hotel to recommend to friends and family."

"The hotel its a bit dated but the staff its great, welcoming and friendly. I couldnt have breakfast but the receptionist packed a bag for me. Super kind. The room was clean, with a big window so it was very pleasant in the morning. Bathroom was clean and overall a good size. The location its also great and easy transport to the city centre. I feel safe. I will come back again."

"The staff was exceptional. We arrived early before our room was ready and the staff took care of our luggage and directed us to a delightful afternoon tea while we waited. We blew an electrical breaker trying to use an American hairdryer and they promptly got the electricity fixed. They were very flexible with dinner reservations, working around our daytime activities."

Local independent shops worth a visit too. The room was spotless but badly in need of the refurbishment the hotel is currently undergoing. Accessible rooms are available, but no lift. Look forward to returning.."

"It was in the chinese quarter, national park very close.. everything was fine, but very cold all night.. the room was only Luke warm at ambout 5pm.. No way, I’ve turning the heat up and then it went off at 7 pm and didn’t come back on until the following morning.. "
