"Asante Inn is a charming guest house with very helpful staff. The Inn has a beautiful Japanese garden. There is a very peaceful area for sitting dining/drinking tea overlooking the garden. "We stayed here for two nights in one of the small double pods (up the ladder). It was a bigger space than we expected and quite comfortable. The walls are understandably thin, so be prepared to hear people in the rooms around and below you. There are earplugs provided, which is helpful. The staff were all lovely and we really enjoyed our dinner around the fire! We also walked to a nearby onsen and found the location to be very convenient for exploring Hakone. Would definitely recommend! "

"The stay is value for money. Pros: - good view of the Mt. Fuji in the room - walkable distance to train station - there are restaurants nearby which will open till 10 or 11pm - hostel provides free bread, coffee and fruit - condition of the room is better than expected Cons: - the host/staff was not really hospitable, this didn't mean any impoliteness though - sound insulation is really really bad, please be aware if you are a light sleeper - not enough slippers, need to bring your own one"

"This is the best possible place you can stay in when you are in the Kawaguchiko area. At $50 a night, the full on view you get of Mt Fuji is priceless. Beautiful private room (if you opt for that) which is clean and cosy. The only con is that it’s a shared bathroom but it was equipped with real good soap and conditioner and clean as well.
