After much searching we finally elected to stay at the Regent, this was an outstanding choice !!! we arranged for the hotel to pick us up from the airport ( cost around £60 each way) each way ,great choice we were met by a lovely girl from the hotel and a driver and transferred in a large Audi ( hotel has Rolls Royce's if that's your choice) on arrival at the hotel we were offered an upgrade to a suite ( cost around £75 per night) we took this upgrade, the suite (1640) overlooked the forbidden...

This hotel is perfectly located in the centre within close proximity to everything. On the map, it looks quite far from the shopping streets, the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square but it isn't. Very pleasant walk. It has a self-service laundry room and provides you with detergent too. The hotel is adjacent ( and behind) to the Regent Beijing with Dengshikou metro station (Line 5) almost next to it. In front of Park Plaza is JinBao Tower with a Starbucks cafe and a bank. First time staying in a Conrad - and it was very luxurious indeed (tv in the bathroom, walk in wardrobe etc.). On first glance it seems like there isn't much else around the hotel, but across the road there is a large-ish park and about 5-10 mins walk away is Sanlitun Village which has some excellent restaurants (e.g. 1949, Restaurant Rouge) and bars. Overall, very pleased with the hotel rooms and location. Only point for improvement - extend the free wifi to rooms (not just in the lobby).

We stayed here for a few nights with our kids aged, 10, 7 and 2. The room was very spacious and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negatives were that the WiFi signal in the room where we stayed was very weak and we could not use it at all and the location was a bit further out, so it took a bit of time to get to the typical tourist spots with all the Beijing traffic.
