"The checking was easy & staff were friendly, The room is up 2 flights of stairs, it is very dated & could do with some tlc. The walls had splatter & marks where something had run down them & the bathroom was dirty in the corner. We couldn't get any hot water from the taps so used the kettle which didn't turn itself off. "Our accommodation was in a block beside the castle. The window was painted shut, beds were poor, a long walk to toilets and showers and no facilities in the room. The restaurant was closed. I'm ex military and have seen better army barracks."

"Lovely well maintained modern rooms with sparkling bathroom and plenty of hot water for great shower. Nice to see eco facilities. Breakfast and dinner were superb and akin to gastro pub quality and generously portioned. We wouldn’t hesitate to return next time we visit family in the area. There is a nice restaurant attached to the Hotel drinks are expensive but the food is reasonable, not the quickest service but if you are not in a rush it's fine. It is conveniently located in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park making it ideal to get out and about either walking, hiking, and cycling in the surrounding area. Waterfall country is about a 30 minute drive away. Very friendly and polite staff. Food was on the slightly pricey side but it was excellent quality. "Alles was heel proper, de kamers op het gelijkvloers leken al een make over gehad te hebben, de kamers op bovendieping nog niet. Er is geen lift aanwezig, dus als je slecht te been bent, beter beneden boeken. Het ontbijt wordt geserveerd in het restaurant er vlak naast, deze was dik in orde, niet super uitgebreid maar wel voldoende keuze. Personeel steeds super behulpzaam en vriendelijk!"

"A very pleasant surprise as a solo guest. Needed an overnight stay for an event in Abergavenny, went with no expectations, just needed a comfortable, clean place and that's what I got.
