"Lovely place - so not the corporate chain hotel. Had a really good evening meal. Breakfast was also excellent. Packed lunch was a bonus. Hotel is obviously geared for walkers and there seemed to be plenty of maps / info provided by the hotel. All the staff were super friendly. Can't wait to stay again."

"Easily accessible, warm and friendly greeting. Beautiful building and room was clean, comfy and perfectly fit for purpose. Didn't go down for breakfast so cannot feed back on that but a fabulous comfy stay overnight for an incredible price! Will definitely stay again and look into more hostels around the Country. "Could just cope for one night. It’s extremely dated, the heating was an old electric heater and didn’t really heat the room well, I was freezing and had to put layers on for bed because the duvet was very thin too. The room must have had a dog in previously, I had a really bad allergy reaction my eyes and nose were streaming and when I put my leggings on I had dog hairs all over them. The bathroom was nice but had a huge stain in the sink and some of the pipe boxing was falling off. The food wasn’t nice and very overpriced, I had a pie that had a very thin, greasy suet lid and the dish underneath was practically thin gravy with barely any meat at a very steep price of £19. I didn’t bother with breakfast however the continental was very well prepared with lots of options and catered well for my dairy free family members."

"Lovely home in a quiet corner, the Thorpe cloud hills and stepping stones as close by. A great base for activities. The hostess was great, apologising for the poor mobile coverage. She stays closeby and offered to help in case of anything. It was hassle-free stay as the house was prepared with all we needed."

"Really beautiful property with a character. Parking available in front of property. Super clean and room was good size. No tea making in room but David is happy to provide at any time. Breakfast was freshly made and was delicious. Especially liked home made marmalade. Walking distance to a pub and an Indian restaurant. Walking trails nearby. Many Peak District attraction within easy driving distance . Overall a nice stay with super nice hosts. I would stay again. "

"This ‘hotel’ is still taking booking yet it is closed down and has been these last three months - avoid at all cost - we booked arrived to find it closed ended up at the Fenny Benton Hotel instead - very nice, good food, good hospitality, polite helpful staff "
