"The property is situated near North Berwick and has beautiful gardens. The building itself is a bit tired. Our room was disappointing for the grade of hotel. Coffee facilities were basis (one packet of two pieces of shortbread to share!). The cooked breakfast was lovely but the continental selection was very poor compared to similar hotels and given that one of the main selling points of the hotel is the Chez Roux restaurant. "It's a hard hotel to be rated as the room we booked was misleading in Expedia, it was far worse, smaller, dated than in the pictures and description. "Loved the beautiful and nicely appointed Blue Room 💙 It was comfortable and had a roomy bathroom with a heated towel bar on a timer. Miss Julie straightened up every day and left us clean towels and topped off the supply of homemade Scottish shortbread.
Breakfast was amazing; continental plus she'll cook anything else you could want. And, there are homemade jams 😋
The former manse is absolutely charming and homey and Miss Julie and Mr. Richard are completely lovely hosts."

"We were a group of 8 men visiting on a golfing trip. It wax agreed that the quality of beer especially the Guinness was undrinkable. My drink also had to be returned
I had also asked for 4 twin rooms but there was only 3 given and the other wad a double. Additionally there was only one bath towel in 2 of the rooms and no toilet brushes"

"Hour and half had to wait for check in no excuse. Wasn't the room I booked . No signs up to say we're rest rooms were .no bathrobes. No apologise nothing . Castle its self is very nice . Wouldn't go back .even on check out. Its like give the key back and go . No have a day thank you for your stay."

"Excellent helpful staff. They assisted with directions, bus lines and more. The breakfast was excellent. Had a lovely meal in the dining area. The cappuccino in the restaurant/bar was excellent. Every staff member was pleasant, friendly and helpful."
