Din Daeng Guide

About Din Daeng

The district of Din Daeng is one of Bangkok’s 50 major neighbourhoods. It is situated to the north of downtown Bangkok, and is often referred to as the gateway to Thailand’s north. This is because it’s home to the main arterial road for destinations like Ayutthaya and Lop Buri. It is a heavily populated area of the city as large housing commission apartments are built here, holding hold many thousands of locals in compact-sized rooms.

Children can enjoy a full day of fun when they visit the shopping malls near Din Daeng. The Esplanade boasts an incredible ice-rink that lures visitors each day. Central Plaza Rama 9 also features an ice-rink, not to mention a massive games centre for the youngsters.

Don’t Miss

Din Daeng doesn’t have too many attractions. However, the neighbourhoods adjacent to this district do boast plenty of interesting things to see and do.

The Din Daeng area is close to Huai Khwang, which is home to Siam Niramit, and several other exciting cultural shows. Visitors can take a deeper look at Thailand’s history while watching the extravagant Siam Niramit Show. The Golden Dome ladyboy show is another popular performance near Din Daeng

About a kilometre towards downtown Bangkok is Baiyoke Tower Two, which peers over the Din Daeng district. This fantastic structure is Thailand’s tallest tower and building. There is a restaurant and look-out point in the top of building, giving amazing views of Bangkok’s surrounding downtown area.

Restaurants and Bars

Much of the dining in this area comes in the form of street stalls. These are found lining the sois and sub-sois off Din Daeng’s main roads, including Din Daeng Road and Ratchadaphisek Road. However, there are several shopping malls that are found inside the district, and just minutes by car, such as Esplanade and Central Rama 9. These department stores boast a large range of dining options. Tourists can also reach the buzzing nightlife around RCA in just minutes from Din Daeng.

Shopping

The markets off Din Daeng’s major roads are always bustling with people. Many of the stalls offer food choices, but there are some merchants selling items like second-hand clothing and handicrafts. Several shopping malls are located in this district too, including Esplanade, Central Rama 9 and the electronics haven, Fortune Town.
