"We had a 2 night stay. Craig was chatty, but failed to point out a few things at breakfast on the first morning which proved a little irritating. The pool is only available for guests on certain hours, for example 6-10pm only. Also, rooms are not serviced unless you actually ask for them to be. This information was on the noticeboard but this was not pointed out, so we didn't see it. Otherwise, a nice stay, a good breakfast. Oh, and very light coloured curtains so expect to be woken early."

"Lovely peaceful place. In beautiful surroundings. Very attentive helpful staff. Nice breakfast. Modern shower-room. Good wifi. Views of sheep and hills. Very close to Buckfast Abbey conference centre. They also have a courtesy minivan to collect from stations or give lifts if anyone wants a trip away without a car (but I didn't use that as I had my bike - which was accomodated nicely). Faultless. "Our stay was very short but comfortable. The room was very nice. Because we had had a long walk after an early start we had no touble sleeping next to the A30, which was quieter than we expected. Breakfast was great and the shower was refreshing and powerful."

"Hotel was spotless, owners extremely helpful and friendly. King size comfortable bed. Room was beautifully decorated with lots of little extras. Even left us an Easter Egg each in the room. "The Sailors Rest is in a good location within Appledore,close to the main car park. The room was clean, as was the communal access. The view from Room 3 was excellent. A shaver point and shelf in the bathroom would be really helpful, but other than that everything was fine."

"The proprietors are very friendly and obliging and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spotless and very well equipped with a large shower (room Agatha). It's in an excellent location both for the beach, town centre and harbour. There is also a nice garden with nice new garden furniture. We like it so much that we have been going for the last 5 years."
