"Room was clean, body wash in room was empty on arrival. The air-conditioning was not working properly. It was a hotel wide issue. Room was super hot. They were aware of the issues ahead of time and didn’t say anything if that’s the reason you’re saying I wouldn’t recommend it. It was a great place to watch the World Cup."

"We got in late at night prior to boarding a cruise the next day. We almost didn’t realize that it was a hotel upon entering, because the check-in was at a bar, but it was a very cool and welcoming atmosphere. The man who assisted us was incredibly friendly and courteous. The room was clean and well-maintained. For a single night, which was the case for our vacation, it was the perfect accommodations."

"Who was contemporary and nicely designed? The room was extremely hot. No air conditioning 80° plus. I asked them to fix the air conditioner. They told me that they couldn’t do anything about it, and they offered to give me another fan but we already had two fans in the room. I don’t think that room was worth $280. Very disappointing."

"A lovely hotel that needs some improvements mainly around its staff. This is a lovely period property that has been modernised to a high standard. The rooms are furnished to a high standard and have lots of excellent amenities including a Dyson hairdryer and snacks and tea and coffee maker provided free in the room. The food at dinner was lovely but the menu is very limited so I would check before having your meal that you actually can eat something from there. Please note there is no air...

"The room had everything you need but wasn’t clean and they don’t clean during your stay either. You can get new towels from reception, but no one is coming to get your previous wet/used ones. Reception desk is impressive and the 2 girls were smiley and attentive. Bathroom was ok but looking very tired. Shower was good and powerful. Parking is easy and the golf course looks good. For the price it wasn’t great value. We might stay again if we can’t find anything better, for the next Goodwood...

"It was 29C and zero AC (or air cooling) as they called it. We baked. No water available to purchase. It was unbearable. Whenever we went to the desk the staff wouldn't make eye contact with us... luckily it was only one night."

"The rooms are not in the main building, they are what I can only describe as motel type rooms in a couple of blocks. We had a 1st floor room the window only opened an inch and there was no A/C, didn't get a lot of sleep at the weather therefore the room was baking hot. Lovely grounds to walk round and the breakfast was good in a really nice setting."

"We were in Southampton on one of the hottest days of the year. The hotel is not air conditioned. A small fan was provided, but it was an unbearably uncomfortable night and neither of us were able to sleep. I have stayed at the Novotel numerous times over the past two decades and the hotel is increasingly dated and tired, especially the bathrooms. Considering increasingly hot summers, the owners of the hotel should invest in Air Conditioning."
