"We stayed a few days before Memorial Day weekend, and the end of their “off season.” Our room was fairly clean but the appliances (small fridge and coffee maker) did not work due to a bad outlet. Many of the sites were closed due to the off season and road repairs. The outside lights by the rooms were too bright for any sort of appreciation of their recognition as a Dark Sky Destination. Food in the Lodge was good but the bathrooms in the Lodge and Terrace needed some cleaning attention. Staff...

"I didn't book anything special but the room was very nice and clean. Mini fridge in the room and a microwave. Nice little balcony to watch the sun set. Dinner and breakfast buffet was good. My entire family thought it was nice room with comfortable bed. My only complaint was the smoking room for the casino was off of the hotel lobby so you could smell the smoke in the lobby. Room was clean and smoke smell free. Would definitely stay again. We are a family of 4 and they were very welcoming."

"We were not warned that they were undergoing renovations. First room we went to smelled like cigarette smoke. Receptionist was willing to move us to another room. The rooms are very dated and run down. This doesn't usually bother me, but it was a very disappointing experience for the end of our trip. This is not a $200 a night room. They should have shut down and done the renovations the right way."

"I've always used this facility when I come down to see the Great Sand Dunes. This visit nice however, there have been some changes since my last stay. The swimming pool area was pretty dark after the sun set as there are not many lights in the area. The water slide and the jacuzzi were inoperable also. I had really looked forward to using the jacuzzi after a day at the Sand Dunes hiking. As to the staff, they were amazing! They were informative, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was light but...

The host left fresh eggs in the refrigerator for us. House is remodeled and was a comfortable place to stay after a day of exploring the area. "
