"1 bed appt, perfect for my needs. Only quibble was sofa. Nice balcony over looking courtyard. Spa facility (pool, jacuzzi, steam room etc) was great, very clean and well run. Its a shame the restaurant wasn't running but as I had an appt with a kitchen it wasn't really a problem. Small shop on site open for 2 hrs each evening, and a temporary bar above the spa. Its a bit in the sticks but only 20 mins drive from Bideford. All the staff were friendly and helpful."

"Fabulous clean lodge in beautiful location"

"The room was excellent the bathroom a little tired with no separate shower. There was no hot water on one of the mornings. The view from the room/balcony was stunning. The continental breakfast was good although there were no warm croissants. The cooked breakfasts were not very freshly cooked, especially the scrambled eggs and bacon. The Bay Bar staff were very pleasant and the food excellent. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would recommend it and would stay there again."

"The position of the hotel with amazing sea views and beautiful surrounding scenery was very special. Inside the hotel inside was beautiful in an old fashion way but in character for the age of the hotel. The only thing that was a bit strange was the shower and toilet cubicle in the bedroom but again when the hotel was built there would not have been on suite bathrooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made you feel very welcome. We had a lovely afternoon tea in the most beautiful...

"Great location in Newquay. Walkable to water and great restaurants."

"We had an excellent stay at the Esplanade hotel. It's perfect for a family stay and very near to Fistral beach. Claudia was especially welcoming and loved our little one. The room was very big and the beds were comfy and clean. There were was a great selection of bathroom wash, soap, lotion for adults and also kids too which was a nice surprise. Despite it saying there was no cot for the room when I booked, there was a cot and sheet in the room on arrival. The only downsides in the room were...

"Location and view were excellent. Falmouth itself is great. Rooms do get quite hot. Breakfast average. Poor experience with staff and pub downstairs. Family ignored by staff. Others who arrived well after us ordered and served before we were even given menus. Would not recommend."

"The bathroom shower did not have a shower mat and the wet surface in the bath made the shower too slippery for my wife to use."

"Bath tap ran only cold, but shower was perfect.. room was exceptional quality and great value. Pool is fantastic"

"The bed was clean but uncomfortable. The shower was definitely not cleaned thoroughly as there was a booger on the wall inside and there was a razor left behind. Views and location were great. Staff were kind and helpful, but for the price, this stay was not comfortable."

"Room was lovely, staff were friendly"

"This was a great place to stay. Close walk to town and Pendennis castle. I have heard many places with 'old world charm' and this definitely fits the description. Loved the decor and history of the hotel."

"We had a superior sea facing suite, but on entrance we were disappointed and unsure if we had been given the correct room. It was located on the first floor and at the end of the main building. At first sight it all looked great but soon it became apparent that more care is required. Dents in floor, old, sagging furniture, balcony floor stained, a very small tv in the lounge, just a general feel. The suite was very spacious and with a great and fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher and...
