"This is our second visit to this hotel and we will return next time we are in Chester. The location with the Park & Ride next door is very handy for visiting the city. The large on site parking is ideal. Food purchased was very good. The pool of course is a bonus. All members of staff we met from the receptionists to the room attendants were friendly and professional. The only thing missing was a fridge in the room."

"Room was very dated. Holes in blackout curtains letting light in. Bathroom again dated. Water very slow filling bath, soap out of reach when in bath. Bath towels very soft and big. Tea tray in weird place in wardrobe. Bed very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was lovley with lots of choice and full English cooked to order. Had a nice overnight stay."

"Rooms ok but service goes downhill quickly when the hotel is busy - had to wait 5 minutes for someone to turn up at the reception desk and the breakfast is limited to a greasy buffet with no real healthy options. Service definitely different to other MacDonald hotels once they have a larger number of guests"

"On the outside the property looks very beautiful, and set in open beautiful countryside which is a major bonus, However you step inside and you notice the place is very old tired building, rooms were nice enough but needing more attention to cleaning the rooms, as both of our rooms hadn't been cleaned properly, Everything creaks groans and moans, and the noise thru the walls and floor boards from other guests moving around the building can be heard everywhere, upstairs down stairs next door, The hotel it's self isn't too bad, they do the best with the situation their dealt with and the staff are very nice friendly professional and helpful, Breakfast was alright, had better breakfasts in travel lodges days b4 staying here, Overall Rooms were nice but the showers had ran out of hot water, so cold shower in the morning Food, was fine just small portions, Staff were excellent, rooms just needed an extra 10.mins and a final check as their was hairs an dirt an bugs all over the bathroom and window ledges Stairs cases were old wonky and creaky , they were ok for us but some of the other guests very elderly an struggling with the old stair wells, as their is no lifts in the property 5 1/2 out or 10"

"This hotel is ok, but the restaurant is appalling. Severe lack of staff and attention to diners, we watched two couples up and leave after being sat with no service for almost 45minutes. The food is vastly overpriced versus quality combined with the lack of staff attention, we were only offered a drinks order once and provided with one small jug of table water. Spa facilities are ok, sauna is tiny but ok, pool area is nice"

"Booked for 1 night stay whilst in Chester, check in was smooth and very friendly staff on reception. We requested a late check out of 1pm and this was accommodated without any issues. We were escorted to the room which was an Executive room but it was extremely dated and curtains needed to be fixed (which we did ourselves). The bathroom had silicone everywhere and just needed to be brought up to date. Did not look like the photos on line at all. It was clean overall and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and all of the food was fresh although the restaurant furniture where we were sat did have cosmetic issues with damaged sofas that were ripped etc. Following breakfast we went back to the room but were startled by the fire alarm which was a test but we were not advised this during check in. At 11:30 the cleaning staff pressed the door bell and entered into the bedroom despite a late check out being booked. When we advised we had a late check out booked she left but then proceeded to bang the hoover against the door and was rude to us so much so that we packed up and left the room and the cleaner was rude once again! We did make a complaint to reception on check out who did credit the late check out fee but this kind of treatment from the cleaning staff at a hotel of this rating is really not acceptable and tarnished our stay. In essence the hotel could be out of this world but it needs investment and better cleaners!"
