Outside dirty and a little sketchy. Did not have any issues when walking in area. Just need to pay attention to your surroundings.

"Stayed at the Renaissance the weekend of 8/9/25. The hotel staff were so accommodating, the room was comfy and modern! The restaurant staff including the bartenders were helpful, great drinks and delicious food not one time did we have something we didn’t like. Such a great experience in the heart of Harlem!"
"I read the mixed reviews and chose Macaw Guesthouse anyway - I am glad that I did. It was a reasonable option in expensive New York City and it was as described. Charming hosts who went out of their way to welcome me and ensure that I was comfortable. Short walk to transportation options and dining options nearby. Highly recommend and would stay again. "

"I like almost everything. The part that I like the least and would like to improve is to have all the food available until 9:30. It run out too quickly. Because breakfast time is 6:30-10:00 But sometimes I comes down on 8:30. Somethings are out of stock and the staff informed that it was no longer refilled . However overall the staff and others are very good. I will recommend to others and come again certainty.

"Prefect hotel for my visit in UES. Staff was nice, Rooms arent huge but they were clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Plus there was a nespresso machine and complimentary bottled water so convenient for an early cup of coffee. I would definitely stay here again. Note that there are at least 4 steps to enter lobby. "
