It is an old building with lovely period furnishings on the main floor. The room was comfortable however didn’t have the same charm. I wish the curtains in the room were more room darkening. Visiting in June means many hours of daylight and less conducive to good sleep. I’d like the room darker Also the walls were thin and I could clearly hear conversations in the next room. Fortunately it was quiet in the evening. Otherwise a pleasant stay.
This property was amazing. Best location. Rooms were all updated and the AC was great (it was a scorcher out, so we really appreciated this) the best part was the front desk and their customer service skills. We were truly looked after and cared for.
Check in was very smooth and the fellow at the desk was very friendly .
This is the smallest hotel room I have ever been in though , maybe 30” around the bed on all sides , no where to put suitcases or bags but on the floor by the door . Bathroom is nice and the room has a fridge .
Gives you the perfect experience of an historical town. Outside is what you expect of an old town, but the inside was very clean, updated unique to make you feel like you have traveled back in time. Quiet and very comfortable beds!
A bit inconvenient as front desk is at other building, and found no one at the main location. Overall the place is decorated classic style and with very nice and clean room. But no elevators
What a great hotel. When you enter the lobby, it looked like an old hotel from the gold rush, but once you got to your room, it was clean and modern. So cool. The bed was very comfortable. We highly recommended this hotel.
Great location. Clean, quiet and comfortable hotel. A little bit of a hassle having to check into a different hotel for the key or ice or any issues, but that was fine as long as it wasn’t raining. No restaurant in the hotel but the upside was there weren’t a bunch of tourists.
Loved my stay at the Midnite Sun!.The hotel is quite lovely and our room was very clean and well maintained.
My only note would be that if you're looking for someplace quiet this may not be for you. We were entertained by all the people streaming in and out of the bars until all hours of the morning.
I would stay here again for sure.
Quick check in. Building does not look like much from the outside, but the lobby has been restored to look ok as if it stepped out of the late 1800s. The rooms are ultra modern and comfortable with all necessary amenities. Walking distance to all attractions and convenient parking right across the street. Highly recommend if visiting Dawson.
The Midnight Sun is a kitschy (foyer) elderly hotel where we were first booked. Because we were staying over the weekend, the SIMPLY AMAZING front desk clerk, Joffrey (sp?), graciously moved us to the sister hotel, The Downtown. Not as kitschy, just as clean. Furnishings in both were sparse and tired, but the cleanliness (and comfort of the beds) were top-notch. Joffrey tipped the scales though… over and above in friendliness, professionalism and efficiency.
