After some debate with reception the guy borrowed our phone to show us where it was, not under this hotel but scrolled down another half dozen pages and showed us it the parking charges in the general terms and conditions, while scrolling saw the booking charge had dropped by £20, so suggested they took the parking charge out of this,...

Access around the building is one way but to exit you have to go through a locked gate and you need a code - as a guest who has just arrived you don't have this info. "The perfect start to our holiday After a 3 hour train journey we relaxed in the bar and enjoyed a delicious meal. There was a great atmosphere in the bar which was busy but the service was very efficient. Our room was spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. The automated check-in and check-out was impersonal but meant we didn't have to queue at reception to check in. "This was a great stay. A beautiful heritage property. Felicia and her Paul were fantastic hosts. We stayed with our son his wife and their 22 month old toddler. They could not have made us more welcome. Felicia was very accommodating about breakfast and other things as our son was running the Cheshire held marathon. The breakfasts were all delicious. Highly recommend this as a place to stay."

"The first room I was given smelt of smoke and the duvet cover had dust and dirt on it. This gave a very bad first impression. Fortunately I was able to move rooms, as although the hotel was fully booked some people had not yet checked in. I do hope they cleaned the room again before they did. The 2nd room was clean and comfortable. However soundproofing isn’t good and I could hear water running in adjacent bathrooms."
