If this all sounds a bit dramatic you should take the fantastic Croke Park Experience tour to get a very real sense of just how important and deeply ingrained the GAA and Gaelic games are to Ireland’s sense of itself.

Dublin Castle

8.6/10 (7,535 reviews)
On Dame Street, south of the River Liffey in the heart of Dublin, stands the mighty architectural achievement that is Dublin Castle, parts of which date back to 1200. Over the centuries Dublin Castle has been a fortress and treasury, a royal palace and a prison. Prior to Irish independence in the 1920s, it was also the centre of British rule in Ireland. Today, Dublin Castle is a government building and significant historic emblem.

"Staff is wonderful and helpful. Chloe was spectacular in her customer service, above and beyond and patient with all my questions. The rooms are definitely snug, we just had carry-ons and barely could find space for them. We were in an internal room which was great because it was so quiet at night. The beds were quite soft. Room and bathroom were clean. Location was great, easy walk to the south side of the river and touristy areas. A major con to the room is that there were no outlets by the one bed, only far away on the opposite end of the other bed, so plan who's sleeping where and where your devices will charge / be used over night. They also charge a 15 euro fee for early check in even if the room is available early, so not a huge amount, but slightly annoying. Never had a hotel do that before. They said it was because they have rooms dedicated for early check ins for people who pay for it, makes sense, but no other hotel I've stayed in has done that. Overall good stay and would recommend."

"Place was great right in the heart of dublin, little bit small for two but overall a nice clean room with good staff. Breakfast was decent, only things could be better is more hooks in the room as well as microwave and a mini fridge in the room. Staff were kind and check in easy. Gym was equipped for a basic workout. For a short trip to dublin this is a top spot to be right in the centre of the action and get a nice sleep."
