"we had to change rooms 3 times due to A very strong smaellnof cigarettes, then an insect infestation and then the 3rd room was not very clean and needed a lot of maintenance. The main house, spa and breakfast were great. Some Room maintenance and furniture renewal would make this a fabulous stay."

"Lovely warm helpful welcome. Room spacious, clean with everything you would normally expect. Bed comfortable. Lots of parking. Small but pleasant swimming pool. The ladies toilet behind reception has stunning lily of valley tiles and nice floor tiles - I really hope they dont update these and instead turn this area into an art deco showcase! Some areas of the hotel look like they need a refresh, but they arent bad. The only negative for me was that cooked breakfast items were all lukewarm which was surprising at 8am. The rest of the breakfast offered good choices for most preferences."

"There was a wedding on , so couldn’t sit outside which was a shame, as air con in the bar was too cold. Didn’t stay and have another drink coz just too cold. Used spa Which was nice, but ladies changing rooms need more space and the floor needed to be cleaned more often. Minor point, but generally hotel nice"

"From start to finish the stay at this venue was one of the worst I've experienced. We were staying as a wedding party and were told that we didn't need to book for dinner as there were ample people on hand to accommodate. Turned out there was 1 bar staff and one chef so they could only take 5 orders at a time and you then had to wait for another 15 minutes before the next 5 could order. In the end half our party left to go and get food elsewhere as after an hour and a half most still had not even ordered food. The manager admitted this was still being used as an asylum hotel and they had skeleton staff. We didn't book breakfast due to the extortionate price, however, we did go down and sit with the family. Breakfast should of been from 0630 - 1030 but didn't open until 0720 and shut just after 9 on both days due to staffing issues. Added to this, there were no bowls for cereal, the food was awful and to top things off one of the party found a metal screw in his beans! I would recommend hotels.com remove this hotel from their site until it gets itself sorted as it is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in"

"Beautiful hotel. The hotel was clean but needed to be refurbished. Bed was not made properly. TV small, and sits on a table. Air condition did not work. Bathroom very old fashiond need updating. Carpet old. No fridge in room. Our first night we did not sleep well due to noise. Restaurant staff need more training. Did not enjoy Breakfast on the first morning, very slow topping up. Hot drink machine needed upgrading. Bottle water was provided daily. Good quality bread. Breakfast was good on the second morning."

"The room was clean but the lack of air conditioning really let it down. Although we stayed in a particularly warm spell, I imagine that it would be pretty uncomfortable a lot of the time. It was difficult to sleep due to the heat. The staff were really friendly but not particularly efficient in the Sports Bar. Many people were queuing for quite some time to get a drink. The vegetarian options in the Sports Bar were extremely limited. The option picked was awful but a refund was given without any issues. The non-vegetarian choices made were ok but nothing special for the prices charged. It put us off dining in the restaurant. Breakfast was ok and could have been improved by different coffee options, more fresh fruit, and better quality pastries. Labels on items would have helped those with dietary issues/restrictions. All in all we did enjoy our stay but a few tweaks would have made it somewhere to return to."
