"Very comfy room, with a hot shower. Nicely decorated with lots of lamps providing pleasant lighting, with armchairs to loll in and read. Quite a grand building, with interesting decor throughout; paperback books in shelves. Breakfast was very good too."

"It was difficult to find the hotel parking as we arrived at night, but OK once we got our bearings. The hotel room is huge, but looking a bit tired. I loved that I could have a bath, as this facility is missing in so many hotels now! Our room was on the street front so it was noisy from traffic, despite double glazing. The beds were very comfortable though and there was a good supply of tea, coffee etc but no teaspoons!"

"My only negative is that the hotel doesn't have a lift, which my mother really needs, and we were on an upper floor so she struggled on the stairs."

"Radiators in the room must have been for decoration, there was no heating on a freezing cold night, owners must have known this because on arrival we were handed a tiny fan heater, which made little difference in a big room. Toilet wasnt clean, bathroom light didnt work initially, towels weren't provided until I went to reception and asked for them, bed was uncomfortable. "We recently stayed at this lovely cottage in Carlisle with my two children and had an amazing time. The place was spotless, cosy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The cottage had a lovely big garden with beautiful views, and there were some great walks nearby which we all enjoyed. The host was welcoming and made sure everything was just right. We would definitely love to return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!"
