The hotel is within 5 minute walk of the Narbonne Gate of the medieval citadel of Carcassone. We had a lovely view of this amazing fortification from our room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was charming and very good. Absolutely perfect location if you are driving.

Friendly and helpful staff. There are only 3/4 taxis in the area and on arrival at the airport we could not get one. We rang the hotel who arranged it. The staff told us they were going to undertake a major renovation over the winter. We have stayed before here and could not fault it. In terms of location it’s immediately below the castle and a five minute walk.

Awesome location for touring the old town
Right outside the old town. Minutes of walk to the gate. Room was a bit small but clean. Free parking but breakfast was a little expensive.

Excellent choice for visiting Carcassonne.
We stayed at the Mercure for one night as part of a longer trip and wished we were staying longer! Staff were welcoming, breakfast was good, the hotel was very clean and the pool area was very nice. Our room was excellent - very spacious and comfortable, lovely bathroom and very very quiet. The location was also excellent for visiting the Cite. We walked there and back in just a few minutes and there is a bus between the Cite and the town/train station which we caught on the way up but we walked back down in around 20mins. Excellent choice for visiting Carcassonne.

Disappointing after previous great visit.
We stayed here before about five years ago in a beautiful ,light and airy room, opening onto the lovely gardens, and had a fabulous stay. Thus we were looking forward to our current trip. Unfortunately, we were placed in two small,, dark rooms on the other side of the hotel. This isn't the hotels fault, just our bad luck, but it does completely change the quality of the room and how much we enjoyed our stay. This alone would not have resulted in me writing a bad review, however I noticed the morning of our departure that there were lots of ants in the bathroom of one of the rooms. We quickly took all our belongings from that room and put into the other, which seemed to be ant free. Not quickly enough, as after we had left I found out that one of our bags was literally full of ants (we didn't have any food with us so found it unlikely that we brought them into the hotel). I would not stay here again. :(

Very comfortable stay close to Carcassonne city.
Overnight stop in a very comfortable, well located hotel for a visit to the medieval city. The room met all our needs for a short stay in April. Would have ideally liked something in between the somewhat regimented express breakfast and the full buffet breakfast. Inclusive parking was a benefit.

A very satisfactory stay.
Hotel in very good condition and relatively close (on foot) to the citadel; good sized and comfortable rooms; the attendants are not the friendliest but they do their job; breakfast somewhat weak, comparable to other lower category hotels from the same hotel chain. Parking ok, but not very big. Very good a la carte restaurant menu for dinner.
