Nice hotel set in an ex monastery. Some interesting remains still visible.
Good service with pleasant staff.
Beds very comfortable and aircon was welcome in unusual heat
Great place to stay. Good access to major scenic towns and hiking in the Picos de Europas. Was little disappointed they didn't have air conditioning running in November so we could keep room really cold for my wife, however they brought us a fan and that worked well. Great food and service. Breakfast was delicious and the lasagna dinner was memorable. Beds could use some upgrading as they were a bit stiff. Again service is top notch and everyone is so helpful. Would recommend staying here and enjoying the history of the property and the nearby town of Cangas de Onis as well.
This property was a monastery. It’s renovated. You can see the details of the building, the manager explained the history of the buildings. That staff are very nice and go beyond to help you in everything. They have great choice for eating, the patio is a wonderful place to have a cup of wine, read, chat or the like. I will recommend this place to my friend and anyone
We had a wonderful stay . The room is very spacious.
Warm welcome and Staff are very nice. Food was very good. Lucia in the restaurant was very nice and helpful.
Very nice restored hotel in an old monastery. I can’t believe nuns lived in such opulent quarters and such large rooms! Wonderful staff and excellent breakfast. The only thing I would say is please replace all the beds with king/2 meter wide ones. The small bed was very uncomfortable to sleep on. Also they have a new building with balconies, but I was never offered that option thru Expedia. I would have preferred a room with a king bed and balcony, but they only offered Standard on Expedia
We had a wonderful stay in the Parador. The staff were excellent - they provided us with very good advice on local cycle rides and had a number of maps and trail guides to follow. The restaurant is also excellent - we chose from the set menus and found all of the food to be high quality in a lovely atmosphere. We would stay again without hesitation.
Great place. Historic building dating back several hundred years, very tastefully now a Parador. Everything was immaculate, staff were great. Excellent wine @4 euro per glass. Breakfast was amazing. Cava, fruit, breads meats, cheeses, cakes, pastries, cooked options etc etc. Dinner was equally good. Definitely one to come back to.
Very friendly staff on reception and the younger staff in the cafe. But the ‘senior’ staff in the main restaurant for both dinner and breakfast were not so friendly. It might be due to the language barrier so need to know a few words of Spanish to get by
This was one of our favourite locations in our 2 week trip (had 10 other nights of accommodation along Camino del Norte).
We loved everything in this location: the serene area, the renovations, the food, the wine, the cheese, the overall atmosphere. We truly want to mention Segnora Pillar - she was at the Reception the day when we checked in and checked out - who went above and beyond to make our stay a perfect one. She understood and helped us change the room, cared for our comfort, advised on our trip, and gifted us a “Parador passport” for future usage! The most important advice was to go see Ribadesella Caves and Museum, and that truly made our day, as Alta Mira Caves and Museum were booked months in advance! Gracias, thank you for everything, we’ll surely come back to these place! The walk in the little village was amazing as well!
2i night half board in May was 300 euros…… What do you get…?
- No tea or coffee facilities in room
- No mini bar or fridge
- You have to book the following day’s breakfast time when you check in -how on earth do i know -I’m on holiday!
- The earliest evening meal time is 8.30pm ….which was fully booked so 8.45pm was the earliest we could be admitted to the restaurant. Just great when lunch was 12 noon.
- The evening menu was indecipherable -the starters and main courses on the menu were not highlighted so it was not possible to tell which is which.
- No drinks order taken at the evening meal.
- We Ordered food at 9.05pm….it arrived at 9.45pm. -it was only chicken and rice!!
- We chose Chicken and rice for the eveneing meal……It was the strangest chicken I’ve ever seen. Most likely it was lamb.
- The “chicken” was full of splintered small bones. Which is a reckless way to serve chicken. We complained.
- The chicken and rice was the only normal item on menu and it was 5 euros extra if you are on half board.
- The Hotel is a nice old monastery with charm but that’s it,
- There was a Tv in room but it had no English, German or American tv channels.
- The Beds are suitable for monks only - I.e. rock hard.
- The bathroom had a plastic toilet seat which slides off as soon as you sit on it.
All this for a Price of 300 euros (plus extras) for 1 night. You have got to be kidding me!!
