Since we walked in, the staff were very nice and friendly. Rooms are spacious and great. Only things I could say are “inconveniences” are: The A/C was not working properly, room was a bit warm and the tub is very high. Other then that it is an excellent place to stay. I would definitely come back to Cambridge and stay here.

We stayed in the cinema suite which was lovely with great character - the hotel is lovely too but on many levels with the bar, bistro and reception so wouldn’t recommend to anyone with mobility issues. The staff were really approachable and friendly but there is no parking facilities nearby - so parked 10 mins away but overall a wonderful stay!

Hotel feels in need of some TLC. My room has damp in the corner. I booked 2 rooms for a business stay. Called ahead to ensure one was a twin rather than a double which was confirmed weeks in advances. On arrival it was a double and we had to wait over 30 mins for this to be rectified. No apology or offer of a complementary drink whilst we waited.

We paid on arrival for an upgrade, but the room was really rather tired, poor lighting, inconvenient plug locations, no USB sockets at all - And the blind on one of the two windows was broken and so permanently down. We mentioned it before going out for several hours but it was not fixed. Very disappointing after a couple of excellent stays in the past.

Disappointing
Room was lovely but common areas all looked a bit tired and shabby. The checking in experience was chaotic and all a bit underwhelming and unfriendly. Every greeting was started with give me a moment, one receptionist turned up with a plate of chips to eat and then there was room confusion. Sure they were just having an understaffed bad day but took the gloss off the visit.

Lovely property. Being on the lower ground floor suites meant there was a sewer smell. Towel rails weren’t working small things otherwise lovely stay. Our second visit here.

Good… but…
Hotel du vin are usually a stylish and comfortable option for an overnight stay. The Cambridge branch is decent but maybe not a flagship for the chain. The reception is pokey and I kept wondering if there was a better entrance! I would go back - but not as a destination. My attic room tattinger had mould on the bathroom ceiling and very disappointingly, no snacks or refreshments apart from some rather plain tea and biscuits in the room. Parking is on the street out front or a short walk away. Service was nice as usual and breakfast very pleasant.

We have stayed at this hotel two times before and highly rated it, but to be honest this visit was disappointing. The service has definitely taken a dip for the worse. Hotel conditions / cleanliness are very good. However, Staff and customer service not so much. Some of the staff seem very reluctant to help at all. If you are hungry later on in the evening do not rely on room service. There was no menu in the room, and When we went to reception to ask for the room service menu, we were asked if we were sure because it was just a small amount of microwave meals (named night bites) We ordered the mushroom risotto over the telephone, 30 minutes later we received a call to say they did not have this meal and they could only supply a meat based meal. I explained I was a vegetarian, and the reception just apologised and couldn’t offer any alternative. If anything we were made to feel like we were being an inconvenience. I’m addition, The hotel no longer parks your car for you from the reception. Instead you have to drive to another hotel car park and pay £30 for the pleasure. (For us this was a highlight of staying at the hotel) We don’t think this stay was worth £313.00 per night.

The hotel seems to be a step up from the others that are in the same price range.The breakfast was excellent from choice to quality also served really hot ( which some hotels can’t seem to do ). The bath in the room was lovely also the on suite shower was really powerful and hot . I would definitely recommend.

The bed was quite comfortable. Toilet sink was shallow so water easily spilled onto the floor. Overall very nice stay.

Just not good enough
I consider it unreasonable that check in is 3pm and check out 11 am. So only 20 hours in the hotel Bathroom looked pretty but was in fact quite impractical. Wash basin could only take 1inch of water and anyone over 5'10" would not get under shower. A/c control too low and not easy to understand.

Stayed here years ago and it’s gone downhill. Room was but no real connection to wine. No decent coffee, facilities lacking. Shower was good though. Decor dated. Photos in public areas of drunken white toffs just inappropriate now. Dining was more miss than hit. Service all over the place. Served written fish and then whilst waiting for new fish told that we were only entitled to two courses as part of the deal after being told it was three. Bad timing and service. These hotels have lost their charm since they were bought out by a corporate. No real knowledge of wine there. Real shame.

The property is lovely and very comfortable rooms however, we chose this hotel for our mini honeymoon and when we stayed we changed rooms for the 2nd night and some of the facilities were not working fully in the cinema room - asked staff who were unsure of how to get it all working as they were temporary staff from another location .. considering we paid more for this room it was disappointing. I later found out we were overcharged and still I have no response to my request of someone at the hotel looking into the overcharge? just a reply to say if we stay again they will look after us .. to be honest i would rather they looked into the overcharge as a priority, then we will consider if we visit another time. Please note also there is no long parking here.

Excellent location, a short walk to museums, restaurants and shops. Comfortable room. Air-conditioning had trouble keeping the room cool, but the weather was exceptionally hot. Very good Hotel restaurant with a good breakfast selection and high-quality dinner menu. Front desk is staffed 24 hours per day but I found it difficult to contact the desk by outside phone.

Lovely comfortable room and the most amazing, professional, and friendly staff. My room was adjacent to an outdoor smoking area. Each time I returned to my room I had to pass though a cloud of smoke. Also, noise from the courtyard woke me up. I realise that it's inconsiderate guests, not the hotel which is at fault but the smoking area is badly situated. Also, beware of hidden charges on room service bills. The room itself was lovely, the rest of the hotel looks a little tired, e.g., frayed carpets on the stairs. Thanks to the person who checked me in and out and the man who brought my room service. Lovely people.
