The night we checked in, from the get go, the owner was rude but we ignored as it was nearly midnight and we just wanted to get to our room. Then, as he hands us the keys, he threatened to cancel our booking because “he didn’t make enough money from Expedia” and “he did us a favour by keeping our booking”. We had booked the hotel 6-7 months before our arrival. He said he didn’t have any rooms left yet upon checking Expedia, he had advertised 1 room for the next night at 50 euros.. so much for being completely booked out and not making enough money via Expedia (when we had paid over 209 euros for two nights). As we got to our room, the sheets and pillow cases had stains, and the blanket had a musty smell. Please do yourself a favour, do not book this. It has a bad smell, previous infestations of bed bugs and the shower drainage is non existent!

Very dusty Rock solid bed (my shoulders have never felt so stiff) Found expired sweets and a thick layer of dust on top of the wardrobe (they’re probably still there we didn’t touch them) Wasn’t allowed to take our room key out with us, had to return the key every time we left the hotel One guy was quite funny, he was flinging plates around

Right in city center- best location you’re going to find for the price. Staff was very friendly. Room wasn’t the cleanest but it was totally doable. We had to sleep with window open because it got really hot in our unit, which ended up being a bad idea because it was very loud at night because of the location.

This is the quirkiest hotel I’ve ever stayed at but for the price point it greatly exceeded my expectations. I arrived at 0730 and was greeted by the owner. A very friendly and affable individual. I was about to ask if I could leave my bag there knowing check wasn’t until 14.30. He handed me my room key and told me I could get right to the room as it was ready and not occupied. A godsend after a transatlantic flight! Check in form was all ready all I had to do was sign in. He was awesome. The location is so close to Centraal Station that I think it took less than 5 minutes to walk there. It’s 2 minutes walk to the Grand Place. Surrounded by great restaurants and take out places if that’s your thing. Variety store is next door. The room was small in European fashion as I had ordered a single but did have a double bed. Opening window with back of building view allowed for fresh air. Tons of hot water for a shower. Breakfast area in the lobby looked great but I never took it as time did not permit. That is why I did not score it. If you are looking for reasonable accommodation at a fair price in a great walking location, this is it. The staff are truly hospitable and yes, I’d book it again in a heartbeat.

The fun, bohemian decor was uplifting, exciting. I booked the hotel for this reason, and it looked even better in person than on the photos. The room and bathroom were clean. The room could have used a bit more or stronger lighting. The staff were very helpful, had excellent information/ answers to my questions. The continental breakfast, included in the room rate, was delicious and satisfying. Be prepared, the elevator is tiny, as others have said. The spiral staircase is even tinier and narrower. The hotel is on a pedestrian-only street, so a taxi drops you off a block away and you must walk your luggage to the hotel. All of these things don't matter, the charm and character of this hotel and the staff are above and beyond to make this a very special experience.

A VOMIR et à fuir. Chambre sale, odeur nauséabonde, pas d'eau chaude, TV mais qui ne fonctionne pas, pas de télécommande...tête de lit pas fixée. Nous sommes parties de cet hôtel plus vite que prévu après en avoir trouvé un autre. Le plus grave: le gérant est raciste et a insulté 3 clientes devant mes enfants. Il a également souhaité que nous partions en nous menaçant car nous avions parlé à ces 3 clientes. Personne ne vient faire des contrôles? Cet hôtel devrait fermer. Première fois que cela nous arrive sur cette plateforme! Je suis plus que déçue...

Such a charming hotel! Ben the owner is so welcoming. The staff is so helpful. Upon arrival we were greeted like family. Ben mapped out our tour of the city to ensure we saw all of Brussels during out short stay. The hotel decor is so detailed and ornate. The hotel is conveniently located just outside the Grand Place and walking distance to all the sights, restaurants, bars, etc. I would stay here again!

The area the hotel is located in is perfect for walking, shopping and dining. The staff were friendly and helpful. They carried our luggage to and from our room since there was a small staircase and the elevator doesn't go to that floor. We appreciated that. However, we would not stay here again or recommend it to others.

For information, the hotel is in a pedestrian zone so taxis cannot drop you off in front of the hotel – not the hotel’s fault, just something to bear in mind! I was a little annoyed to be charged 35 Euros for an “early check in” bearing in mind we arrived 2 hours early, the room was ready, and this just seemed to be a money-making exercise, no-one had to do anything! The hotel is tired and our room needed some work, there was a cable sticking out of the bathroom wall and the clip that holds the shower head in place was broken, so we had to shower with a handheld shower head, which makes washing hair a challenge. The room is small, so the double bed is against the wall, so getting up in the middle of the night without disturbing your spouse, takes some careful manoeuvring. I already knew, from previous reviews, that breakfast was different – and it was, we had 1 croissant, 1 roll, 2 slices of cheese and jam per person – already set out of the table. I don’t like open jam or sugar at breakfast, I always wonder if someone has sneezed on it – so I stuck to the croissant (which was delicious). The breakfast tables are very close to each other, too close for comfort. On the positive side, we asked for a room near the lift, which we were given, the breakfast staff were very friendly and the location for the city hall is perfect!
