We had read various positive and negative comments on the Chateau de Bricquebec, and found a very nice hotel: exceptional environment, helping staff and beautiful bedroom.
We strongly recommend this hotel.
I would definitely stay here again, it was such a great location to catch the ferry from Cherbourg and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We checked in quite late, around 7pm, parking and taking my dog were no problem, it was all so easy and in an incredibly impressive historical building. There is a restaurant in the hotel which we didn’t try and also quite a few other places to eat within the town. It felt very safe and quiet.
As it was late January we were the only guests. After about an hour there were also no staff at the hotel, so we were alone until someone came in to prepare breakfast. This felt very strange and uncomfortable. We would not stay there again.
Our plane arrived late and we had significant issues getting a taxi or Uber to the hotel. I called the hotel to ask about checking in later and they said get here before 9 pm or be locked out. We were not able to make it and there were no vacancies within 40 miles. My sister and I ended up sleeping outside because by the time we got to the hotel no one was there and no one answered the phone. We also did not get a refund for the night we slept outdoors. The hotel is not accommodating to unexpected travel delays. I would strongly suggest booking somewhere else or making sure you can 100% make it before 9pm.
Restaurant authentique, cuisine excellente.
