Unique place to stay. Very easy to get to and lots of neat things in the area. Easy walk to everything. Much better to any chain. on the outskirts of the city or to any expensive place downtown.
I was only in town for a night, but the inn was the perfect convenient spot for my stay. The check in instructions were easy to follow, and the room was spacious and relatively quiet given the location. My only complaint is that the towels and bedding smelled a little musty, like they were folded while still damp. Other than that, it was a great, convenient, well-located place. I would definitely stay here again.
This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.
First, the “inn” is a small building on a very busy street. Very hard to find, and parking is very difficult.
There is no staff on site, no elevator, very steep stairs, and no fire escape that I could find.
The wifi didn’t work. I called the hotel (since there is no staff there) and spoke with Tiffany, who told me she “manages the hotel from home because “I’m busy taking care of six kids, I will try to get there in a few hours to check the wifi”. When I explained that I needed to get online for a meeting, she said “then you should go to a coffee shop”.
If this wasn’t bad enough, the room I had faced a very busy intersection – cars were literally 30 feed from my window, honking at each other day and night. The “inn” is downtown, with lots of restaurants and bars around it, so there is noise nearly all day and night. The hotel’s approach to this problem: they provide earplugs for guests.
The stay-at-home-mom/manager refused to give me a refund (“because we require seven days notice for refunds”) and was extremely unpleasant to speak with.
Additionally, there is no elevator and the stairs are very steep. I have a hip problem and walking up and down the stairs was difficult.
Parking is in a dirty and scary alley, and most of the spaces are full (don’t know whether they’re hotel guests or not). I wouldn’t want to be going to the alley late at night, and the inn conveniently doesn’t mention tha
I adored this property. It was so conveniently located, so quaint, and a great value for the price. They had a nice common area and I kept hoping others would emerge from their rooms so we could enjoy it together! It was a little hard to find, since the signs are so tiny. The parking was also tricky, since you have to basically drive into an alley to find it, but so nice to have free parking available! I would definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to others.
Unique styling just as in the image. It was the exact room (I think they are all different). The room was very chilly when I arrived (freezing temperature outside), but there were three space heaters that very quickly warmed the room and were more than enough. The bed was a comfortable memory foam, but the pillows were cheap. A sitting chair, desk, and couch were also in the room. The bathroom was spacious and a mini refrigerator was included also.
It is a small boutique hotel with only several rooms and two secure entrance at street level. The rooms are upstairs and there was no staff present while I was there. Entrance to the building and your room is extremely easy with a code emailed to you. Location was downtown restaurant/bar area and within walking distance to campus.
I would definitely stay here again if I am in Bloomington.
This is a very charming and convenient place to stay in Bloomington. The room is spacious, clean and has lots of little thoughtful details. My only issue was the street noise at night from the local bars. Earplugs are provided, but I’m not comfortable wearing them. It quieted down after 2am. We did enjoy the convenience of being right in the town square.
We loved that everything was so convienent. The parking spaces are small but free and close so that was nice. It was nice to just have a code to enter the building and room without having to check in at a front desk. The room was was very spacious and clean.

The location is great, but I'm not sure I will return. The heat wasn't adequate to warm my room and their solution was to put 3 space heaters in the room, which I'm not sure is safe. The room hovered between 59-64 degrees. If you're not there in the winter, this probably won't be a problem. The door facing 6th street didn't work about half the time and I had to enter my code multiple times to get it to open. Not fun when you're carrying luggage in. The comforter had paw prints on it, so while everything looked clean, I had to wondered how that was missed. The cost was reasonable, but there are other options nearby (both locally owned and chains) that are similarly priced with a better experience.
Quick trip to the city. Close to the square with many places to eat and bars. Cozy rooms, easy check in by using the code provided by the staff. Love the style of our room, which was the Lotus Room. Maybe there could have been an extra towel or two in the room. Next time we come to Bloomington, we will look to book another room at the Walnut Inn.
I really liked to stay there, it was clean, like an apartment super private spacious for a vacation very comfortable thank you! I would definitely come back!
A very unique property. If you are an introvert, this is the hotel for you. Sound was an issue but they provided ear plugs which did help. I think this is an issue only for the one room. Big room, loved the building, parking was easy. I would definitely stay there again.
What a little hidden gem. Great location. Big room. Very clean. Quiet (the only sound was from the street so I’d imagine if you stay on a Friday or Saturday or game day it might be louder but they provide a white noise machine). The only criticism would be the need for an additional blanket, especially as we enter colder weather. It would also be appreciated if there were more than one roll of TP. But those two things are easily fixed. Would definitely recommend!
Great location. Clean. Spacious. All around a nice place. If you worry about security this might not be your spot as there were a number of times the front door was wide open and with no lobby presents an issue sometimes
