"The staff were very friendly and helpful. Properly was well maintained. The restaurant had nice variety of meals and the bar had entertainment the night we were there."
"Lots of trailheads nearby to explore including the Appalachian trail. We walked to the Big Meadow lodge and back in one day but it was a bit too much. Wish they had some kind of a shuttle between the two lodges.
The dining room has decent food but closes by 9pm. We had a premium room and it has AC (need in the summer) and a fridge but no microwave and the view was excellent."
"Staff was very friendly and the pool was refreshing on the hot day.
However the bed wasn't very comfortable, the air conditioner was very loud even on low but the worst part was that the fire alarm for the whole hotel went off twice very early in the morning so we also were awakened very early on top of a bad nights sleep.
Also, if you're considering staying on a week night, know that nearly everything closes by 5PM including restaurants and some aren't open on weekdays at all."
"Room was not very clean. We had a mouse running around one night! The porch area outside of our room was dirty. Some of the staff acted like they didn't want to be bothered. Food at the lodge was expensive! We won't be staying here next time we are in the area. On a positive note, the main building was clean. There was music and a great view from the main porch."
"I was pleasantly surprised for our stay. We would have stayed another night if we didn't have a time issue. Everything was SUPER clean, it was old, but taken care of. The property manager (owner?) was so super nice and welcoming. There are even chairs to sit on in front of your room so you can enjoy the night time. If you are in Luray and need a place to stay I would definitely give The Cardinal Inn a thumbs up."
"BEWARE. There are better options.
If you're like me, Quality Inn Shenandoah Valley isn't where you want to stay. I like budget hotels and I have realistic expectations. All I want is reasonably clean rooms and reasonably friendly staff. I don't mind outdated furniture with some wear and tear, or if the location isn't ideal, etc.
But this place felt like an abandoned prison. Totally beat up, floors and walls falling apart, burnt out bulbs, and in really bad shape basically everywhere. They...
