"This is the real deal! Historic property with great food, great rooms. Had a suite, very nice. We were welcomed by howler monkeys, deer and agouti (which is pleural for agouti). Nice clean pool. 4 star luxury. Stayed on our way to the airport, easy commute 45 minutes."

"Wow what a beautiful hotel! Rio Perdido offers quiet luxury in a very natural environment. The staff were fantastic- nothing was too much trouble and they were so friendly and kind. We stayed n an eat bungalow which was perfect for a couple or family of 3- huge bed, couch to chill on, lots of storage, good size bathroom and cute deck with hammocks where we sat and watched the monkeys playing in the trees. The food was delicious with lots of choices for all meals and daily specials. The setting of the hotel is spectacular- set in the forest with lots of areas for hiking and animal spotting. The highlight was the thermal river- I’ve never experienced anything like it- 3 natural thermal pools in the river where the water is fed from the nearby volcano- the hottest pool was like a hot bath! The swimming pools in the hotel are also fed from the river and therefore warm- great for relaxing but a bit small and warm for actual swimming. The hotel offers lots of activities- we did the river tubing which was great fun, and the complimentary hike and yoga( in the beautiful yoga studio in the forest). It’s quite pricey ( converting from GBP) but worth it for a few days of real relaxation in a unique location. "

"The houses and property were amazing! The staff was very helpful guiding my wife and I when the main road was closed for construction. As a photographer, the scenery from the balcony area was absolutely stunning! We couldn’t have asked for a better stay!"

"Location is about 20–25 minutes from downtown. The space is cozy and suitable for a family of four, and the balcony is very nice. However, there was an ongoing odor in the room, and the bathroom had a strong smell, which affected our overall comfort. "

"The staff were very helpful. We had a tour of the grounds to see birds, plants, bats and a sloth. The breakfast was very good. It was very clean and comfortable."

"Safe property with attentive staff, gated, and near the square. Pool closes at 8pm. Make sure to bring shampoo and conditioner. Mini bar is stocked with goodies!"

"When we got in our room the shower head was missing. We heard banging all night and discovered in the morning that there was a truck parked outside our room with horses in it."

"Lovely host. Unfortunately no one was there when we attempted to check in on the first day and we stayed elsewhere as driving there at night was not safe. Our host had left her sister there to meet us but her sister left. We called 5x and did not get an answer. Windows need exterior cleaning and screens installed so you can open them. Doors need spaces around them closed up as there were many insects coming in."
