"Great location next to the station. Nice building, with a cool, old-timey vibe. It felt like a traditional British hotel - I was visiting with a bunch of Canadians who appreciated that. The bar was a good amenity. Unfortunately the beds were uncomfortable (I put my handbag on the bed and we laughed that it basically sunk it), the shower didn't work (it was some weird electric shower thing, so I had to go and use the shower in a friend's room), and the door didn't shut/lock. "The lift was broken so the service lift was the only option. However the landing areas were 'behind the scenes' and poor quality. I did not much care for the long black hairs stuck to the walls of the shower from a previous guest. Clearly not a good cleaning regime. The shower has my pet hate. The shower controls are behind the door. You can't use them without being inside it and it is too small to avoid getting the inevitable blast of cold water that is living in the pipes before whatever...

"Had to change rooms as upon closing door , the lock and frame fell off. A shoddy repair had taken place prior to our stay with 2 screws attempting to hold in place. From a room security perspective it was very poor. Room was changed but very uncomfortable bed. 3/4 bed which was not suitable for 2 adult's. No air con. Not the best"

"Clean hotel with a good location. Friendly staff. Only a couple small complaints. Handle on window was broken so couldn't open it so that led to a hot and unventilated room which wasn't the most pleasant. Also the bed had a mattress topper on it, which both me and my partner had aches and pains due to.. maybe just invest in new mattresses instead of trying to cover the issues. Only minor issues that for what we paid we can't complain really but just minor things would make a big difference!"

"The guy on the reception desk was brilliant - we'd had such a long journey. We were taken care of, we knew the AC was out and he fetched an extra fan. He spotted we needed an extra pillow without us needing to ask and brought it up within minutes. Really impressive."

"The caretaker Paul didnt know we were coming and initially was more interested in his amazon parcels, told us the owner books people and dosent tell him (happens all the time) id booked one double and one single with 3 beds on the same floor - I got one double with single beds in the attic and my children the 3 bed a floor below us. The b&b had hostel vibes from the start. There were smashed windows, dirty bathrooms without locks, pubes on the toilet roll and bottles stashed behind the was hand...

"Staff as we waited 20 min before someone came to us room was small but everything in there didn’t see anyone why there. Apart from a lady who gave us the keys."

In addition to this we were met with a pungent smell of cigarettes and cannabis and the smell unfortunately was rife in our room and we were unable to remove the smell despite having windows open all night and using our cleaning products as air freshners .
