"Good hotel would stay again"

"Beautiful old main building and well constructed new wing that blended seamlessly with the old main Hall. However, due to the layout and lack of lifts it meant a really long walk from our room to the main reception area. The Hotel seemed to have a lack of staff - the very nice mature lady at reception, was multitasking and ended up carrying our bags up to the room. This staff shortage manifested itself later when we went to have dinner - to be told that the gas was off in the kitchen and...

"I have to say I waa really surprised at how nice this place was. The only issue for me (being a bigger bloke) was i couldn't fit in the shower as it only has a s.mall opening but I was able to get around ."

"Friendly welcome at reception, room had recently been refurbished to a high standard. Beds were very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Hotel is clean and modern with a great fitness centre. The pool was decent and there’s also a good sauna Breakfast was a very good buffet and we sat out on the sunny terrace to eat. A great stay while my son was training at the football centre, would definitely stay again."

What was a bit frustrating was that we booked it to have access to the pool, which was advertised, only to discover it’s actually the university’s swimming pool. When we booked to go swimming on the Saturday, it was shut for maintenance (which I know the hotel can’t do anything about). "Poor service ruined our Sunday to Tuesday stay. We rebooked based on my aunts past great stay despite facing my ongoing divorce and the anniversary of her mothers passing. We tried to hide our grief so the two kids could enjoy their school break but the hotel made it worse. At check in the front desk man did not greet us and looked disgusted. The contrast was painful because I watched him enthusiastically welcome the non Black guest right behind us. Appearing to be the only Black family there...

"Nice clean room. Really big bathroom Very hot but it was a hot evening outside The check-in was weird because we were asked to pay £5 for parking which wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the booking process. Considering it’s a motorway services accommodation, there’s really no choice unless we parachuted in. The hotel should have the honesty to include it in the price at booking."

"Charming pub with rooms in the courtyard. Each one had parking outside. Very spacious room with comfortable bed, smart tv and tea & coffee making facilities. Good size en suite with great shower. Towels provided along with a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Breakfast was made to order along with continental options. Staff friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again. "

"Check in was no frills. We arrived half an hour before check in and was offered a room but for an extra fee. I accidentally booked the room for one person so had to pay an extra £12 for breakfast which was fair enough but on check out an additional £10 for the extra person which I thought was unfair."
