"My daughter and I stayed here the night before an early flight. We arrived late and had to park behind the building. There was some “activities” going on behind the building. I honestly thought “I hope my car is here in the morning.” The limited interaction I had with the two employees at the front desk was pleasant. The room was clean. The screws on “safety” lock on the door were so loose that it rendered the lock useless. The most disturbing part of the stay was when we left at 4:15 am we used the recommended side door. Upon exiting there were three people outside engaging in illicit activities. Long story short, we did not feel safe here."

"We stayed for 3 nights in April in a ‘King-bed with a city view’ room. The room was spacious, clean and the bed very comfortable. The hotel was in a great location - about 15-20 mins walk to the White House and 8-10 minutes walk to a metro stop. This made getting around Washington DC easy. Unfortunately the rooftop bar and pool were not open as this is seasonal. Breakfast wasn’t included in our room rate so we only had breakfast at the hotel on one morning. It was delicious but expensive (compared to other DC restaurants we ate in). The only thing that we were disappointed by was the additional daily $35 "amenities fee” which we were told covered the cost of wifi access and in room tea, coffee and water which was replenished on request. This is something most hotels of this caliber provide as standard. Overall we had a great stay at Zena and would recommend the hotel - just be aware of the additional daily tax."

"The worst stay I’ve ever had. When we checked in, the tissue box was empty and the bathtub didn’t look clean. But the most serious issue was that our room door was left unlocked two nights in a row, with no resolution from staff. The first night, when we returned and found the door unlocked, I called the front desk. I was told a manager would contact me in the morning, but I never received a call. The next day, we made absolutely sure the door was locked before leaving. When we came back, it was unlocked again. This time, we took photos and reported it to the front desk in person. The staff member wrote down my name and room number and again promised that a manager would follow up the next morning. Once again, no one contacted me. This is a serious safety concern, and the lack of response from management made it even worse. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel to others."

"Had high hopes for this new to me hotel. Sadly for the price I didn't see the value: walls were thin; black out shades were not cut to size leaving large gaps for light; coffee pot was broken; electrical sockets didn't work - leaving my phone uncharged and me on short power for a very long day in the city; promises of an Arlo yoga mat went unfulfilled when the house keeping member handed me additional coffee pods and said "we don't have the mats." There's great potential, but not sure I'll return given the multiple shortcomings."
