"The cottage has everything a family needs but the communications around check-in was very poor and hotels.com's customer service was unwilling to provide any assistance. I would have thought some level of quality control helped justify hotels.com's commission. Either way, the cottage is managed by the building next door and this is where you need to go to collect the key. "

"We had an amazing time there! The hotel was ran by a couple young Australian people who were great!! It was so nice to go to a hotel in japan and have people who spoke English easily! The food was westernized, which was amazing!!! The Onsen doesn’t fallow Japanese rules, they allow tattoos and you have to wear swimwear! 11/10. Totally recommend "

"Very nice and cozy place to stay at. The owners are very nice and kind. It was a pleasure to spend the time there. I really enjoyed having a drink with the owner.
The place is at the top of a mountain with a beautiful scenery. The place is mostly for ski resort, but I used it to go around the area and visit some local attractions."

"Pensionatet är ganska enkelt, den närmaste omgivningen erbjuder i stort sett bara naturpromenader, det speciella här är ägarna! Mycket hjälpsamma, talar bra engelska och är intressanta att tala med!"

"Liked the traditional Japanese hotel style, as well as the onset which was very hot and was much needed after a day of skiing. Staff was very accommodating and helpful when needed"

"This deserves much more than an 8.4 rating. We had one of the best ski stays ever at the Arai and we’ve stayed at Chamonix, Aspen, Jackson Hole, and Big Sky. The hospitality and food was amazing with some of the best service possible. The price was so much more reasonable than any other US destination. Thank you Lotte Arai."
"Stayed 3 nights in an executive room on the 10th floor. It was clean, spacious, and with a good view of the station and the mountains. Will stay again."
"The owners made us feel very welcomed. We enjoyed their homemade traditional Japanese breakfasts, his and her onsen bath, and the care they took to make us feel comfortable. We cannot recommend this highly enough!"
"The hot spa for women only and men only was the highlight of the day. Reception staff were wonderful and the room was very clean.
Location very close to train station a plus. Very easy to find bus to visit snow monkeys."
