"The hotel was alright but charging nearly a tenner to park in their own car park is a joke. Good breakfast albeit another £30. Had to spend nearly the room cost again to park and eat. Could have got somewhere much nicer if I wanted to spend over £100 and eaten and parked for free. Wouldn't come again"

"The rooms are clean but lack basics. No water in the rooms. You cannot get food after 10pm. The jacuzzi is designed to kill you. There is so much chlorine it feels like a gas chamber. Its awful. "Even though there are positives in that this hotel is located in a quiet area and has ample parking I do not know how it is rated a 4 star. The decor is from the 70’s and needs a serious update. Even though the website says there is a fan in the room I had to go down to reception and ask for one. The carpets need replacing and there is no ramp into the reception area so you have to carry any luggage up and down stairs. No fridge in the room either. "The Bushel is a friendly well run pub right in the heart of Bury St. Edmunds. It has the advantage of Car Parking for guests. Breakfast and Dinner were both good value and tasty. The staff are helpful and efficient. We stayed in one of the courtyard rooms. This had all we needed including a good size bed, shower, tea and coffee, Tv etc. We would certainly stay here again when we are next in the area."
