The hotel was being renovated and our room very clean and comfortable. The manager was very friendly and very helpful, helping us with carrying our luggage up to our rooms. This was greatly appreciated.
One surprise, and for us a disappointment, was that instead of a TV with the traditional cable setup with channels for stations that we view all the time, the room had a new system (for us). It was a “Fire TV” or some similar name with streaming.
This was very complicated to navigate and had lots of sports items and lots of movies. We like to watch the news channels such as CBC News Network, CNN, and other BC and Canadian stations such as Knowledge Network and APTN.
The streaming system did have CBC Gem so we could see CBC Live but not the CBC News Network which required a monthly subscription that the hotel had not paid for. The streaming service did not have Knowledge Network, a very common BC channel watched by us and many of our friends with lots of quality education, and excellent travel and weekly drama series. We thought this was a poor omission. Neither did the system have the Aboriginal Channel APTN.
A lot of retired seniors travel and would be used to the above-mentioned TV Channels. Hence the addition of these would be a reasonable addition to this Streaming service.
Also for seniors, a grab bar to help with entry and exit to the bath would be a safety item that should be added for those seniors who prefer to take a bath. I hope these comments will be u
