"We loved it here, had a a good couple of nights with friends. Beautiful apartment, amazing mattresses and pillows, very quiet environment. The pool wasn’t open and some work was happening but you can tell it’s going to look amazing once they put it all together and summer prep work is expected at this time of year. Kara was fab and we met a super helpful housekeeper who is doing a degree who was a literal walking tourist information centre. Great atmosphere all round ."

"Nice comfortable hotel an easy walking distance from everything in Colchester. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good quality. I liked the fact that breakfast is 'a la carte', as that reduces wastage. Cleanliness is good and the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!"

The room was well, decorated she had good quality cushions and curtains made to match the paper on the feature wall, nice quality biscuits and tea, sew kit and cottonpads.

Great selection at breakfast, fresh fruit, raspberry, blueberry, cereals then full English and about 8 various mini jam pots including salted caramel, I had to resist taking them home

"Had an amazing stay! Room was fantastic! So no what we was expecting, we only booked last minute over the bank holiday weekend as we had a funeral nearby.
Everything about the room was excellent, clean, modern, gorgeous shower.
We ate in the pub restaurant, the food was superb.
Breakfast was excellent! So much choice. The staff were so welcoming and friendly

Staff are friendly and welcoming, some I feel are under pressure from senior management,
It feels like they are short staffed.
Which adds pressure to the rest. But they cope with a smile. Be nice to see more staff which would definitely increase the customer experience and enjoyment.

"The Marlborough is a pub with tasty food and about five rooms for overnight stays. The staff is outstanding and does everything possible to be helpful. It is on a central street of a very small town, so it can be a bit noisy during the day and early evening, but is quiet at night. The rooms have nice versions of all the basics, including a good bed and excellent shower. There are few extra amenities beyond the room and pub, although the breakfast was very good.
