Great location near Lake Towada. The best aspect of this hostel is the flexibility. You are totally free to cook your own food, wash clothes, etc. They have almost everything you can think of for just a small fee of around 100 yen. Everything is self-service which is very nice. They also have 350 yen bath tickets you can purchase for the very nice bath at the hotel right down the road.
the best thing is the ‘secret’ lookout point! it was raining but still breathtaking!
the hostel needs a bit of cleaning and maintenance ti do though. but its super cheap, so i guess u get what u pay for.
Towadako Hostel is affordable price with 24 hrs. accessible facilities. The owners are very nice and caring, there were bikes free for guests which you can ride to the lake and explore around. My booking was the last available room, so it might be the old one with smell of dust.
The Hostel area is large with a lot of rooms, and guests. I can see the hint of beauty of the place, but to be honest, it needs big cleaning and renovation and the place would be very nice again.
The dinner is kind of disappointing as all you get is just a pack of curry and a small box of rice that you microwave them yourself. Yet you can enjoy 24 hours breakfast with toasts, jams, orange juice and milk. There is a bug kitchen that you can cook for free with flavorings. Hot water supply is stable but not hot enough.
It is a little bit far from the only bus station yet owner will provide shuttle services. On-sen ticket is cheap and seriously good, 350 Yen you can enjoy on-sen in TowadaSo.
Owner is very helpful and nice. I feel like home. I will choose to come here again when I visit TowadaKo again. Oirase stream is unbelievably good.
It's a place to sleep and run by a very nice older Japanese man. There are also cheap tickets to a very fancy onsen nearby. The surrounding area is very beautiful and the free bikes available are helpful to get to the gorge. Look at the weather before you go and pack accordingly.

Basic place for sleep
We only stayed here for one night during our bicycle tour of Japan. The room has basic beds, but needs cleaning though.
room was ok, a bit expensive. had a couple of dead bugs on the floor behind the bed, toilets and wash room were clean but cloudn't find a shower. they offer heaps of amenities, snacks to purchase, bar, computer and printer, and a good Continental breakfast.
Towada Backpackers was probably the most thoughtful and well-equipped hostel I've ever been. First off, the owners were super friendly and were always down to mingle with the guests.
The hostel is big; the living room area is a wonderful place to meet other travelers and engage in evening chitchats. The kitchen is well-equipped with free cooking utensils AND food that you can buy readily. (easy system: you pick the food you want and put money in the fare box nearby). Free breakfast from 3am-12pm, free coffee and tea 24/7, and free miso soup 24/7.
Bike rentals are also free! Great for touring Towada Lake and the Statue of Maidens.
Lots of manga and guide books available at the hostel. Bus time tables and maps are also readily available.
The owners would also drop you off at the Towada bus station upon request.
Would definitely come back when I visit Aomori next time!
The whole area is awesome for touring which was the reason for my stay.
The place was very nice, th keeper very welcoming gave the good info about the area.
Met there very good people and I the onsen close by is very nice after a full day riding in quite cold temperatures.
