"Totally delightful place. Our room was fabulous and the bed was so comfy. Location is also fabulous as right in town and an easy walk to everywhere. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful. "

"Very historic property which is close to train station and all sites of interest. Overall great service. It should be noted that there is no AC nor elevator do to historic nature of property. Usually not a big deal as it is seldom "warm" in York and there are staff who will assist if one needs help with luggage. Bathroom was wonderful."

"Very old property with an antique charm. Our bedroom was very well taken care of. Our only complaint would be the bathroom being a little narrow and damp. But these are things that must be traded off for when considering the age of the building. Its proximity to the Yorkminster made it very nice and easy. The food and drink as well as food service was very good. Servers and bartender were knowledgeable about the drinks and gave us good advice when it was needed."

"Read reviews on this place before and decided to do an overnight for our wedding anniversary. Fantastic quirky place. Each room with horsey theme and named after race horses, very clean witj fluffy towels and robes even curly wirly to have with your coffee. Hair dryer iron and ironing board . Lovely breakfast great choice on menu. All staff attentive and friendly. Lovely anniversay stay, thank you all we will come again "

"They change my room for me on arrival as i preferred a balcony. The room was lovely. The food in the restaurant was excellent and huge portions and the staff were friendly. All in all a great stay . Fountains Abbey was 10 minutes down the road."
