Nevis is the quintessential volcanic island paradise with its conical shaped peak that is normally obscured by cloud cover.

This was actually the view from our room and we had a rare clear day and the top was visible for a few hours.

The volcano was actually named by Christopher Columbus when he discovered the island in 1493. Thinking the white stuff on top of the volcano was snow he called it Nuestra Señora de Nieves. Nieve means snow in Spanish... it later morphed from Nieves to Nevis.

A very quite sleepy island that is great if you want to escape it all big time. It is truly one of the nicest islands in the Caribbean.
