"We spent two nights in Clos de Chavigny. We had one experience with the owners which coloured the rest of our time in a deeply disappoiting and unacceptable fashion. We decided to pay to "rent" the kitchen area in order that we could have dinner on the premises (as rules are very strict on food in the rooms). An extra 20€ (on top of over 145€ per night with continental breakfast) allows you the access to a fridge, a kettle and a sink, plus glasses and cutlery but no actual cooking ability. It...

"Chez Charitha is a lovely B & B in the centre of the pretty little town of Azay-le-Rideau, a couple of minutes’ walk from the chateau (well worth a visit). Charitha himself is the perfect host: welcoming, helpful and very generous. He greeted us with drinks and snacks (every welcome after a long drive), and gave us lots of helpful tips on restaurants, parking and places to visit. "what a find clean and tidy inside a bit dated but nothing to worry about. Outside could definitely do with a cobweb sweep and the light fixed and the chairs in good condition one was broken when we git there. The site could do alot more perhaps a bit if entertainment etc and maybe a møre better takeaway although this didn’t stop is having a good holiday."
